I'm Rodney Starkes, the creative force behind "Zuri and The Magical Comb." Writing has been my lifelong passion, dating back to my early school days when it became my favorite subject, allowing me to unleash my creativity and vividly paint the world with my words.
In 2020, I graduated from college with degrees in Business Management and Project Management. However, during my college years, I found myself drawn to writing articles on LinkedIn, tackling controversial topics such as diversity, black workforce issues, blue-collar challenges, personal stories, and community events. The attention garnered was significant, yet societal biases led me to delete those messages, prompting a soul-searching shift toward Human Resources to be a voice for change.
Simultaneously, I ventured into podcasting with "The Swayze Sway Show." Though short-lived, the podcast resonated nationally, connecting me with like-minded black men across the United States. My approach, marked by its assertiveness, aimed at encouraging change, particularly within the black family dynamic.
In 2022, my focus shifted towards spending more time with my local church and building connections with diverse individuals who share a God-centric heart. As a father, it felt natural to embark on my authorial journey with a children's book, "Zuri and The Magical Comb," inspired by the challenges my daughters faced at school.
As an author, my mission is clear - to empower, uplift, educate, and instill hope. From children to adults, my goal is to take readers on a journey of positive change, one step at a time. Join me as we move forward together, weaving stories that resonate with the heart and soul, leaving an indelible mark on the path to a brighter future.
